Some of the common challenges facing relief and development agencies are: 1) effectively documenting activities, and 2) developing project proposals that attract potential donors. These challenges have resulted in limited capacity for resource mobilisation in many organisations.

To remedy this, SMART SKILLS INTERNATIONAL will conduct training sessions which will cover effective proposal and report writing skills. This will be highly beneficial in light of the current competition for funding.

Here, we have attempted to answer some questions we know you may have in mind concerning the training.

When will the training take place?

Monday 21st – Friday 25th, November 2016.

Who should attend?

This training will benefit all humanitarian and development agency staff (incl. project

managers, officers and assistants).

What will the training entail?

· An introduction to resource mobilisation principles and practices.

· An overview of the current funding environment for non-profit organizations.

· The benefits of strong proposals and quality reports.

· An overview of the elements and formatting of proposals.

· An in-depth look at:

o Needs assessment.

o Project design frameworks.

o Problem statement and justification.

o Setting project aims and objectives.

o Project output and outcomes.

o Project strategy and implementation.

· Monitoring and evaluating organizational frameworks.

· Budget management and implementation.

· Tailoring reports for different audiences and purposes.

· Key elements of technical reports.

o This covers monthly progress reports, activity reports, routine reports, field trip

reports, and meetings reports

What are the main objectives of the training?

· To enhance the capability of trainees to develop high-quality project proposals for

donor-funded projects.

· To improve trainees’ ability in creating high-quality technical reports.

· To create a forum for practicing project proposal development and report writing skills.

How will the training be taught?

The entire programme will be taught in English. With regard to the teaching methods, a

variety of methods will be used. These include:

· Classes.

· Group discussions.

· Brainstorming and exploratory learning.

· Case Studies.

· And many more…

Fee information:The cost of this training is US $600. This covers tuition fees, learning materials, meals and refreshments at the training venue. Additionally, we are willing to arrange for your accommodation. The cost of this accommodation will, however, by borne by the participants.
